Our Power Plant provides an environmentally responsible means of producing reliable baseload electricity. The Plant uses non-recyclable waste as a fuel, reducing our reliance on fossil fuels for energy and reducing the need for landfill.
How it works
The Power Plant will be built using proven technology developed by Outotec, a world leader in EfW technology. The facility is fed with a prepared fuel conveyed directly from the Materials Recycling Facility meeting the required specification for the combustion process.
By utilising a fluidised bed combustion chamber in a gasification configuration, a clean and complete two stage combustion of the fuel takes place ensuring a highly efficient conversion of the energy contained within the fuel.
This energy is used to raise high pressure steam through the boiler to generate over 12.5MW of electricity before the exhaust gases are cleaned up through a scrubbing and filtration system to fully meet the EU emissions standards.
The facility has a designed thermal capacity of 46MW equating to approximately 105,000 tonnes of fuel on an annual basis.

- Electrical output for export 11MW, enough energy to power 25,000 homes
- Heat Export up to 12MW
